CMAT Jan 2017 was conducted on January 28, on a single day and in two slots from 9.30 AM to 12.30 PM and from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Each centre accommodated a vast number of students. The biometric authentication process went off smoothly at most centers.
This is the Analysis of the first Slot.
Overall, the test was simpler than last year and mostly of an easier level as compared to CMAT 2016. For a change, time was not at a premium and some students reported to have completed the paper in less than 3 hours, leaving them time to check their answers
The sections were:
· Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation – 25 questions
· Logical Reasoning – 25 questions
· Language Comprehension – 25 questions
· General Awareness – 25 questions
Each of the four sections had many easy questions. The Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation section had 2-3 moderately difficult questions, the rest were easy. The Logical Reasoning section had 1-2 difficult questions. The Language Comprehension section contained 5-6 difficult questions; the rest were of an easy-medium level of difficulty. The GK section was moderately challenging, with around 7 difficult questions.

In the General Awareness Section, questions were related to current economic developments and government policies like Demonetization, Digital India initiatives, Ease of Doing Business. One of the questions was on Noble Prize 2016 awarded for Music.
CMAT 2017 exam had easy questions on mix of all the Quant areas like Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Number system, Modern Math among others.
Reading Comprehension had the major share in Language comprehension section with 15 questions. In Logical Reasoning section, all questions were independent, and not set based.

CMAT EXAM 2017 ANALYSIS
Exam Pattern: No change
CMAT 2017 exam had 100 questions in MCQ format. There were 4 sections with 25 questions in each section. Each correct answer will be awarded 4 marks in CMAT and every wrong answer will carry a penalty of -1 negative mark. Total maximum marks are 400.

The share of questions on Data Interpretation in CMAT remained low again with 4-5 questions out of total 25 questions. Those who attempted the easy questions first and then moved to difficult questions in this section would emerge as winner.

Language comprehension in CMAT had questions on Verbal Ability as well Reading Comprehension. CMAT had 4 passages with a total of 15 questions. Overall the section was easy but a few of the questions were of higher difficulty also.
Most of the questions were easy to answer but a few questions following the short passages were difficult. Remaining 10 questions focused on vocabulary; grammar; fill in the blanks, statements.

There were questions on Brahmos Missile; Brahmaputra River; which country apart from India resorted to Demonetization and later withdrew it; Ease of doing business; Nobel Prize awardees in the field of Music; pillars in the digital India logo among others.
