CAT 2018: Check Exam Pattern and Paper Analysis Slot 1 & 2

Cat 2018: Unlike last year, there was no sub-sectional time limit.

Cat 2018: The Common Aptitude Test (CAT) 2018, conducted for short-listing eligible students for the Masters in Business Administration (MBA) programme across the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) as well as other premier B-schools of the country was conducted today at exam centres across the country.

More than 2.3 lakh students appeared for the entrance test. A total of 138 venues were allocated for the exam which was held in two batches on the same day.

Batch I:

The first batch was conducted in the morning. Students of this batch were able to answer the exam well as most questions had been expected without any major surprises. The number of questions as well as the difficulty level was almost the same as 2015.

The three sections, Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) and Quantitative Ability (QA), had 34, 32 and 34 questions, respectively with a time limit of one hour for each section. However, there was no sub-sectional time limit, as seen in the paper last year.

Batch II:

The second batch was more or less similar to batch one. Each section had a few tough questions. The easiest section was the VARC while DILR was slightly difficult. In the latter, there was one lesser question than last year.

The QA section could see four to five lesser attempts as compared to last year.

The expected cut off for this section for a 99 per cent percentile is 155-160.
