Part-1

Verbal Ability

English Grammar based questions; English Proficiency; Analogy, Fill in the Blanks, Para jumble, Reading Comprehension

 

Logical Reasoning

Fact Inference Judgment, Passage Conclusion, Statement Argument

 

Decision Making

Conditions and Grouping Test; Data Arrangement Test; Complex Arrangement; Decision Making in a situation; Case lets

 

Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation

 

Elementary Mathematics; Arithmetic:- Number System, Ratio and Proportion; Additional Topic in Arithmetic:- Problems on Trains, Clock and Calendar, Mixtures and Allegation; Unitary Method; Time and Distance; Commercial Maths; Profit and Loss, Interest; Geometry; Triangles, Circles; Mensuration; Algebra Permutation and Combinations; Sequence And Series; Trigonometry Heights and Distance; Linear Programming; Coordinate Geometry Cartesian Plane and lines; Probability; Case lets, Table Chart; Data Sufficiency.

 

Part-2   

General Knowledge

Economics, finance, national and international current affairs, Questions based on conventional GK.  Reading of GK books, newspaper, journals will help.

 

Essay Writing

Essay writing in XAT is the test of writing skill of an aspirant.

This section will be an essay on any   abstract topic.

Candidate has to write essay on a topic but there can also be choice to choose between 2 topics.

 

The candidate should write after thinking well which is best possible in 20-25 minutes. The ideal word limit of essay is around 300-400 words.

Essay will play an important role in the final PI round as questions are based on this essay also.

 

XAT 2019 Exam Pattern

Part 1 (Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning): Decision Making; and Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation. This part is responsible for calculation of percentile score

 

Part-2 (GeneralAwareness and Essay Writing)- This section will not be counted at the first stage as it will not be counted for matching percentile score.

 

The first 4 sections will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) while Essay Writing is of descriptive nature.

 

All questions will carry equal marks in XAT 2019.

 

There will be negative marking with 1/4 of a mark for each wrong answer. Each question will have five alternatives.

 

Each question has to be answered by darkening the appropriate oval against the question number on the answer sheet.

 

Apart from overall cut-off percentile, sectional cut-offs will also be there.

XAT 2019 Answer Key

The answer key of XAT 2019 exam will be released in the third week of January, 2019. It can be downloaded from the official site of XAT.  After entering the Registration Number and Date of Birth we can generate answer key.

XAT 2019 Result

Last week of January 2019, the result of XAT 2019 can be checked through the official portal of XAT by entering the roll number and other details.

 

XAT 2019 Cut-off

Cut-off means the minimum score which is required to be scored to get shortlisted for admissions in institutions. The expected Cut-off for XAT 2019 is:

XAT 2019 Counselling Process

On the basis of the declaration of result of aggregate scores secured by candidates, the XAT Counselling 2019 will begin via online process. Candidates will be shortlisted for XLRI and XAT participating institutions according to the marks secured by them in the examination and GD PI will be held.
